7.2 How to Use Custom Categories and Favorites for Fast Stem Bounce Automation
Export Settings: Custom Categories and Favorite Prints for faster workflow1. Create Custom Export Categories
- Forte reads your routing structure within your mixing template.
- You can create export categories based on your routing folders. For example:
- Create a category named Drums and link it to your drums routing folder.
- Create categories like Bass and Percussion, linked to their respective routing folders.
- Click Confirm to save these categories.
2. Refresh the Session
- Click Refresh Session in Forte Export to ensure it reads the current project setup.
- Your custom categories (e.g., Drums, Bass, Percussion) will appear at the top of the export list alongside tracks and routing folders.
3. Use Categories to Quickly Flag Tracks
- Selecting a custom category automatically flags all tracks contained within its linked routing folder.
- For example, selecting Drums flags all drum tracks, making it fast to select groups for export.
4. Create Combined Custom Categories
- You can create new routing folders in your DAW that combine categories (e.g., a folder that routes both Drums and Bass).
- Add this combination as a new custom category in Forte and confirm.
- Selecting this combined category flags all tracks in both drums and bass routing folders at once.
5. Add Favorite Prints
- You can add any custom category or print to your Favorites.
- Favorites appear in Forte Export every time you start it, ready for immediate use, regardless of which project you open next.
6. Maintain Consistent Routing Templates
- The system relies on consistent routing structures across your projects.
- Keeping your mixing template routing consistent allows Forte to read and present your favorite categories and prints reliably from session to session.
7. Switch Sessions Easily
- When you switch sessions in Forte Export, it prompts to refresh tracks.
- After refreshing, your custom categories and favorites update to reflect the new session's routing.
- This enables smooth workflow continuity between different projects without recreating export setups.
8. Background Export Automation
- Exports happen in the background, so you can continue working on other tasks without interruption.
- This setup saves you hours by automating the selection and export of tracks grouped by routing, all tailored uniquely to your mixing workflow.
